Week 4 "Go and No" Guys

By: Zach Jacobson

71%.  The percentage correct of my start/sits last week.  To be fair it was only a small sample size (5 for 7), and the law of large numbers dictates that it could be a fluke.  This is why I'll be keeping track of my season percentage from week 3 on, and you can see it near the end of each weekly article to check my accuracy.  Anyways, let's take a look at some tough decisions that us as fantasy football team owners will all have to make this weekend.

Fantasy Go Guys

Ryan Fitzpatrick v. Bengals:  I get it, we're all on the bandwagon, but this guy continues to produce like a reliable fantasy starter.  I don't think there's much to say here.  He's produced multiple times since last year yet he's still being overlooked.

Tim Hightower v. Rams:  Rams give up 174.3 yards per game, Hightower is averaging near a hundred.  Expect a huge game from him.  Hightower has been the workhorse for the Redskins so far and it shouldn't stop this week against a bad Rams defense.  Start him and don't look back.

Sidney Rice v. Falcons:  Yeah I'll admit it, I benched Rice in his season debut last week.  Hell, I think we all did!  Who knew that he was going to put up 109 yards.  Atlanta has given up over 250 passing yards per game this year and if Rice finds the endzone he's easily start worthy in week 4.

Fantasy No Guys

Knowshon Moreno v. Packers:  Frankly I hated this guy at the start of the year, and nothing has changed since then.  Moreno's going up an outstanding Green Bay rush defense (so far), and Willis McGahee will steal some carries.  He'll have to catch the ball out of the backfield to be effective this week.

Joe Flacco v. Jets:  Been good overall this season, but I foresee major inconsistency in his upcoming performances.  Not to mention that this week he's playing the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets...so I'd expect a bounce back week for them (plus they're allowing 188.7 pass yards a game).

Season Standings

5 for 7:  71%

The Stock Report: Week 4

Editor's Note:  Our friends over at IcetheKick.com have been kind enough to let us post one of their weekly articles, "The Stock Report".  It will cover who in fantasy football is worth buying or selling on.  You can expect this column every Wednesday from now on.

By: Brady

We may have a new Madden curse upon us.  I know that one week does not make a trend, but if last week was an indication of things to come this column may be a curse on the league.  I listed Beanie Wells and Kenny Britt as buys last week.  The next day, Beanie pulled his hammy and sat out last weeks game (I still am not wavering on Beanie, healthy, as a buy opportunity).  Unfortunately, Kenny Britt ripped up his ACL and fumbled to top it off.  The other buy last week was Eric Decker, who continued his solid play, pulling down 7 catches — a big bonus if you picked him up in a PPR league.
I must tout some of my other recommendations I made last week.  I told you that you to hold on to Jermichael Finley as he was about to explode.  You saw him do just that this week, as he caught 3 TDs against the Bears and was the top TE for week 3.  People that were frustrated with the first two weeks must realize that they should expect more performances on the level of last week, as opposed to the first two weeks where he did not see the end zone.  Dont expect 3TDs each week, but I think he becomes the go to red zone target the rest of the year for the Pack.

I also told you to hold on Plaxico, who rewarded owners with a TD grab and 55 yards.  I think Sanchez will continue to feel more comfortable tossing the ball his way in the red zone.  It seems as if Plax is struggling to separate from DBs outside of the red zone, so he may not rack up a lot of yards, but if you forsee a week where the Jets will be able to move the ball well; I’d make Plax a play at your WR3 spot. My other hold was Malcolm Floyd, who continues to sit with an injury.  Monitor that situation.

I also would say I hit on two of my three sells.  I said it was time to start thinking about dumping Cam Newton and his #1 target Steve Smith, and both struggled last week. (There was also a monsoon mid game, but still). I would not expect performances at quite that low of a level going forward, but they were overvalued going into this past week. I also suggested selling on Ryan Grant, and I would reiterate that sell this week after a plus performance against the Bears.

This Weeks Moves:

BUY -  Denarius Moore - This guy is impressing coaches, and really showing everyone in Oakland that he may be the most true receiver they have on the squad. I think when they drafted Heyward-Bey, this is the type of play-making they had in mind.  He will only be implemented more as the seasons carries on, and I do not think sharing snaps will be an issue.  Buy on Denarius Moore while he is still on peoples benches.  It may take a few more weeks for him to make it into a position to be a weekly starter for your squad, but buy on lower opportunities.

BUY -  Chris Johnson - If anyone in your league is taking offers for Chris Johnson, now is the time to buy low on him.  This is a pace that is NOT going to continue going forward.  It simply cannot.  I usually use that phrase when talking about high levels of performance, but in this case it is the opposite.  With a passing game that has looked solid, and as Chris Johnson becomes more motivated and regains game shape; he will revert to his old form.  Buy now if you can, as his stock has been beaten down with poor performances.
BUY – Phillip Rivers - I think that Rivers stock will take off once again when the Chargers, as a team, heal.  Antonio Gates has been out.  Malcolm Floyd has been out.  Mike Tolbert is banged up.  These are 3 of his top 5 weapons.  Buy Rivers at this dip now before his stock bounces back.

HOLD – Jacoby Ford  -  I already mentioned one Raiders WR.  Now it’s time for the other explosive one that is returning from injury.  Ford has sat out the last two weeks with injury concerns and it looks like he will be back this week.  If week 1 was an indication of how much the Raiders plan on getting him the ball; he is suited to have some blow up games in the near future.  They appeared to be trying to get him the ball in a variety of fashions, which is the correct decision given his measurables and the flashes he showed last season.  If you have Ford at this point, continue to hold and allow him to get back into the swing of things.

HOLD – Mike Williams (TB) - A lot of people had big things planned for Mike Wiliams this year, but he has been disappointing the last two weeks. (ITK writer Chris has cried himself to sleep for 2 straight weeks.) The Tampa passing game has just not been there, and it is really hurting owners who are starting Williams expecting solid yards and red zone looks.  I don’t know if Tampa really has established their identity yet this year on offense, but I think they will soon.  Once they do, Williams will have to be one of the main beneficiaries of that.  Keep holding on to Mike Williams for a few more weeks before you think about cutting your losses.

HOLD – Rashard Mendenhall -  I see a lot of managers floating the idea of trading Mendenhall out there right now.  I would advise against trading away Mendenhall.  He has been right there with Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, and DeAngelo Williams in terms of top flight busts this season.  But Mendenhall will bounce back; I do not think he’ll reach the level that people were projecting him to as a top 5-8 pick, but he will retain RB1 status before this year is over.  Hold him if you can.

SELL – Victor Cruz  - I think Victor Cruz’s hype and value are at their peaks right now.  Cruz is a product of a huge game (captured on Hard Knocks) last year in the preseason and a stat line that was heavily inflated by a bad tackling.  Cruz is worth a stash on your bench, but if you think theres a manager in your league showing interest in the youngster, take what you can get for him now.  He will be relegated to the WR3 position for the Giants soon as Manningham returns and I do not forsee this Giants squad opening up the offense enough to have three wide receivers that have starting value on your fantasy squad.

SELL – Roddy White - Trust me, I still think Roddy is a top flight WR in the league, but this has more to do with the emergence I predict is coming from Julio Jones.  Roddy is still definitely worth owning and starting in your league; but I think if you can get great value for him at this point, you make the move.  This is the move I made this week when I traded Roddy along with Felix Jones to fellow ITK Writer, Chris(He’s a former Jaamal Charles, and current Mike Wlliams, and Santonio owner, it’s been a rough 3 weeks for him),in return for Run DMC and Mike Sims-Walker.  I need the RBs, and am well stocked at WR, and I thought I should take the risk that Roddy may deminish slightly in the passing game going forward.

SELL – Donald Driver -  If you are just a casual fantasy observer, and have remembered past years when it meant something to have Donald Driver on your team, wake up.  This is not 2008 and Driver is quickly driving his stock off a cliff.  Driver is in a quagmire in Green Bay where nothing is quite defined outside of the WR1 position.  Driver, Nelson, and James Jones all are fighting for third pickings from Rodgers (behind Jennings and Finley).  It appears that Nelson is the one that is doing the best to fill that spot and James Jones has the upside and play making ability that Driver no longer has.  Driver’s role and snaps are diminishing and you should try to take advantage of some rookie manager in your fantasy league and see if you can get something of value for this name that no longer equates to the value on the field.

Speculative Play - Greg Little
Last week I told you all that my speculative play was Dane Sazenbacher.  He backed up my prediction with a TD for the second straight week, and continued to be one of Cutler’s favorite targets in the red zone (His favorite target is the opposing defense).  This week I think you look to Greg Little as a speculative play.  Little’s ownage percentage in fantasy leagues is very low, and presents a good opportunity to pick him up before he starts making plays.  Greg Little was quiet most of last week, until the final drive when Colt McCoy and the Browns abandoned their gameplan to use the TEs in short and intermediate routes, and decided to start to make plays more to the edges and down field.  Browns WRs had 2 TDs last week, Massaquoi and Cribbs, and I think this week it’s time for Greg Little to find pay dirt.  If you’re looking for a speculative move to make at WR, Greg Little is my choice this week.

Let Them Preach: Week 3 Edition

By: Christian Hardy

What a week in the NFL right? Bills? Lions? I mean who would’ve thought both of those teams would start 3-0. What a great time for their fans to celebrate after so many years of misery. But this article isn’t about the thriving of those franchises; it’s about what I learned from every game. It’s about the players who really showed me what they got in week three of the NFL season. Enough chatter, let’s get right to the action.

Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans
1. Matt Hasselbeck can produce, even without his number one guy in the game.
2. Nate Washington is going to have a ton of value with Britt injury. Damian Williams will get looks too.
3. Eric Decker isn’t what I thought he was, despite the seven targets he got.
4. Titans are a passing team, and that is going to hurt Chris Johnson.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
1. I was right about Victor Cruz. Check my rankings and Twitter. I called a big game for him.
2. Eli Manning responded very well to a bad performance last week.
3. Michael Vick is not the same Vick that we saw in 2010. Looks older and a big factor is his offensive line.

Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints
1. I think fantasy owners should marry Drew Brees. Jimmy Graham too. Without that late touchdown to Graham, Graham would of had a mediocre game at best.
2. Mark Ingram is become more and more relevant while Sproles becomes less and less relevant.
3. Mat Schaub can spread the ball out just as well as anyone else in the league.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
1. Vikings can’t hold a lead. They completely fall apart in the second half.
2. I think Calvin Johnson can sit out practice all week long and still be a complete beast in the games. He is such a stud. I love that guy.
3. Stafford might be is elite.

San Francisco 49ers @ Cincinnati Bengals
1. Frank Gore isn’t the same as he has been in the past.
2. Alex Smith does know who his unsurpassed weapon is (Vernon Davis).
3.Chad Henne is not what I thought he was.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Carolina Panthers
1. Mike Thomas still has good value as a flex even with Blaine Gabbert at quarterback.
2. Cam Newton burned me, badly.
3. Steve Smith is going to have his off games, and that is alright.
4. If Cam Newton fails to perform, the Panthers have their run game to lean on. If this team good get a good offensive coordinator that could balance this offense, it could be an absolute powerhouse.

New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills
1. Wes Welker is a top 10 wide receiver in fake football and in real football.
2. If Fred Jackson got 20+ carries a game then he would a stud.
3. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a top ten fantasy quarterback. He continues to do it, and so does this offense.

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders
1. Mark Sanchez actually can play in the regular season
2. Darren McFadden is the Raiders offense.
3. LaDanian Tomlinson still has it, but I also learned that neither RB is dependable enough to start.

Baltimore Ravens @ St.Louis Rams
1. Torrey Smith, if he earns that starting job over Lee Evans (and he should), is an irresistible pickup this week.
2. Fantasy owners still don’t know Bradford’s #1 wide receiver.
3. Ravens are a top-caliber team, and should be considered “deadly”. The game against the Titans was clearly a fluke.

Kansas Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers
1. Mike Tolbert is going out of style like jean shorts. His value is falling and falling because Ryan Matthews is stealing the goal line/red zone carries.
2. Even if the Chiefs struggle, Dwayne bowe has proved me wrong.
3. Vincent Jackson is one of those guys who will never drop a goose egg, but will be so inconsistent.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears
1. Like I have said before: no Forte, no W in the win column for “Da Bears”.
2. Jermichael Finley is elite. No other way to put it. If you don’t consider him elite yet, then you will soon enough.
3. You can’t depend on James Starks or Ryan Grant on a week-to-week basis.

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks
1. Alfonso Smith is the backup running back, not Chester Taylor
2. Todd Heap reclaimed his number one tight end spot.
3. Tavaris Jackson can win a football game (?).

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
1. Earnest Graham catches the ball (?). He has eight targets for seven catches!
2. LeGarrette Blount can run the ball  a heck of a lot better than Earnest Graham.
3. If Julio Jones has a favorable matchup then Matty Ice is going to find it and expose it.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
1. Mike Wallace is a monster. No doubt about that.
2. The Colts can stop the rush (this is something that won’t trend).
3. Addai got the carries that he deserved.

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
1. Tony Romo is not only a leader, and this isn't new, but he is an elite quarterback. He leads his team to victories and the team rallies around him.
2. If the Cowboys don't get a healthy Dez Bryant and Mike Jenkins next week then the Lions could tear them apart.
3. Redskins love to feed the ball to Tim Hightower, and he will be getting plenty of carries throughout the year; at least enough to earn a starting spot on your fantasy roster.

Week Four Injury Report: The Kenny Britt Effect

By: Zach Jacobson

This week (and every one for that matter), I'll be answering all the questions you have about NFL injuries and whether a backup is worth a fantasy football look.  Keep in mind that I'm merely going over the immediate backup on that specific team.  Anyways, let's start with the Eagles, because week four is shaping up to be a rough match-up for them.

The Injuries

Michael Vick:  Technically his status against the 49ers next week is up in the air, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.  Even if it is his non-throwing hand, a large contusion can't be easy to play with, especially based on the swelling.  Mike Kafka has a 47.7 QB rating and Vince Young is still recovering from a weak hamstring so it will be interesting to see where the Eagles go in Week 4.  If he winds up sitting don't worry about picking up any of this backups.

Jeremy Maclin:  The Eagles seem to be playing it fast and loose with the phrase "ruled out".  First Vick, and now Maclin is being listed as day-to-day when the original thought was that he'd miss week four.  At the very least he'll be missing practice time, and hamstring injuries can be worrying for a receiver.  If you have room on your team I'd add Steve Smith as insurance, but seeing that this injury would only limit Maclin for this week alone, I wouldn't look too much into Smith.

Kenny Britt:  Hey, who'd of guessed that Britt's season would be cut short by injury, and not by him being thrown in the slammer?  Apparently it's an ACL and MCL tear, and the Tennessee Titans fear he will be lost for the season.  Nate Washington was already having a solid year, but Britt's injury makes Washington a must start most weeks.  Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins are also worth a mention, but I wouldn't pick them up 'till they show more production.

The Replacements

Good to Go:  Nate Washington
Stay AWAY:  Mike Kafka
Wait and See:  Damian Williams, Lavelle Hawkins, Steve Smith.

Look for this article on Mondays or Wednesdays, and see week four's version at TheFFaddict or IcetheKick in a couple days.  Come back tomorrow for Christian's "Let Them Preach" to see what he saw this last weekend in the world of football.

Week Three "Go and No" Guys

By: Zach Jacobson

So ya' missed me doing my start/sits last week did ya'?  No?  You didn't even notice?  Well fine then, but I'm back in week three with a quick run through of the players you should start, and the guys that aren't so fortunate.  I won't be going over the top like I did in week one, but I plan on giving you a few players that fall into each category.

Fantasy Go Guys:

Ben Tate v. Saints:  Ahhhh, Ben Tate.  You know the bandwagon that we were all jumping on before the 2010 season?  Well it's rolled back into town and it's time to hop on, folks!  Seriously though, with Foster re-aggravating his hammy and Derrick Ward being, well, Derrick Ward (not to mention his ankle injury), Tate looks startable as of now.  I just picked him up in my money league and I may just start him ahead of DeAngelo Williams...

Daniel Thomas v. Browns:  "Reggie Bush will be the GUY for the Dolphins", said your best friend last month when he drafted Bush in the 4th round.  I really think it's time for you to pull Daniel Thomas off your bench and flex him.  Bush's welcome wore out fast in Miami, and Thomas should be the main back from here on out.  Bush can't run between the tackles to save his life, and that definitely makes him near droppable in most leagues.

Mike Sims-Walker v. Ravens:  While there is loads of potential wide receiver talent in St. Louis, MSW should be by far the most dependable.  With Amendola out for awhile, Mike Sims-Walker should look like his '09 self, which makes him a solid play this week.  Sam Bradford hasn't looked as good as advertised so far, but he still managed to crank out 300+ yards last week.  Plenty to go around.

Brandon Marshall v. Browns:  Seems like a fairly obvious start right?  Well I'm not just starting Marshall, I'm putting him in my top 10 WRs for the rest of the year.  Maybe even higher.  He was up in my rankings before the season, and so far he's done nothing but prove me right.  Davone Bess has looked irrelevant so far, and Brian Hartline isn't quite trustworthy.

Fantasy No Guys:

Sam Bradford v. Ravens:  I know what you're thinking, "But Zach, you just told us to start Mike Sims-Walker, why are you now telling us to start Bradford".  The answer is simple.  While Bradford tossed up 331 yards last week (the reason I'm starting MSW), he has a sub-par completion percentage and only one touchdown in two games.  Start Bradford at your own risk.

DeAngelo Williams v. Jaguars:  It's week three and I'm already sick of this guy--I stated in my Ben Tate start that I'm starting him over DeAngelo.  He's looked like a clear bust so far, and until I see something from him this season I'm not changing that view.  Not to mention the Jags have been great vs. the run the first two weeks.

Brandon Lloyd v. Titans:  An average week fantasy-wise in week one, and a surprise inactive last weekend, I wouldn't start Lloyd this week.  Tennessee has shut down opposing receivers so far this season, and Eric Decker's emergence could spell disaster for Lloyd's production.  If he does have success this week I see it coming in the form of a small amount of yards with a touchdown.

I'll hopefully be back later in the week or during the weekend with my rankings.  If you want instant updates on football and my narcissistic thought process, follow me on Twitter @zatchj62

Let Them Preach! Week Two Edition

Editor's Note:  This is the second of a weekly article that blogger Christian Hardy will be writing for ReclinerQB.com's Fantasy Corner.  The article will highlight what he saw over the weekend in the world of football.  You can check out Christian's other work at his blog, TheFFAddict, or follow him on Twitter.

By:  Christian Hardy

Every year the National Football League seems to change so much, and this year the game has been no different. Maybe EA Sports Madden 12 was wrong, teams actually can throw the ball, because in the first two weeks of the NFL season, quarterbacks have dominated the game. Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Cam Newton, and Matthew Stafford have gone absolutely berserk in the two weeks that we have been back to football. But what did I learn in each matchup individually? That's what this is about.  So sit back, and enjoy.

Oakland Raiders @ Buffalo Bills
1. Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of those quarterbacks who is going to throw the ball a ton.
2. C.J. Spiller is going to be non-effective this year, but Fred Jackson looks like he is going to be an utter stud, especially in a PPR.
3. Michael Bush is going to vulture some of Darren McFadden’s touchdowns, but at the same time, McFadden is going to be a huge part of the offense.
4. If Denarius Moore does not get the WR2 spot from Darius Heyward-Bey then the Raiders don’t know how to run a team. The guy is tremendously gifted.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Philadelphia Eagles
1. Matthew Stafford is going to become elite if he can stay healthy.
2. Jahvid Best is the newest workhorse.
3. Chiefs are officially in the “Andrew Luck Sweepstakes”.

Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans
1. Kenny Britt is a tremendous playmaker, and Nate Washington is a great flex in a PPR league.
2. Matt Hasselbeck is going to throw the ball a lot.
3. Chris Johnson is a major buy low right now.

Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts
1. Dallas Clark’s value has dropped tremendously, as has Reggie Wayne’s. I’m calling it “The Collins Factor”.
2. Delone Carter will get as many carries as Addai on a lot of weeks, but how many carries will they get? Also, I learned that Carter is going to get all of the carries in the red zone, which means touchdowns galore (but how often can the Colts get to the redzone?).
3. Greg Little’s value is going to increase week by week and is a great dynasty league pickup.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Minnesota Vikings
1. I was way off on Blount, and I just wanted to say sorry to all that took my advice. That was one of my worst picks ever.
2. Arrelious Benn and Preston Parker are both going to be relevant this year.
3. Adrian Peterson is an absolute monster. There is no other way to put it. He is simply a beast.

Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints
1. Matt Forte is the Bears offense. Without Matt Forte, Jay Cutler would look like Kerry Collins, and that is the worst insult I could think of.
2. Darren Sproles is a huge part of the Saints offense, and he should find a spot on everyone’s roster.
3. Jimmy Graham is now a must start every week. He did not have an enormous game this week, but good enough to the point where he was startable.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets
1. Mike Thomas is the top wide receiver for the Jaguars. Ten targets is plenty enough to convince this man.
2. Shonn Greene may have the role that many fantasy owners thought that he had: Greene had ten more carries than Ladanian Tomlinson as well as one more catch than Tomlinson.
3. I learned that Dustin Keller isn’t as irrelevant as people think. He will probably find a spot in my top ten tight ends next week.

Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers
1. Mike Wallace isn’t just a deep ball receiver; he had eight catches on Sunday.
2. Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders are going to continue to bring each other down.
3. The Seattle Seahawks are also in the “Andrew Luck Sweepstakes”.

Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Redskins
1.  Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald are going to have a great time together in Arizona.
2. Fred Davis can produce, even with Cooley stealing looks.
3. Chris "Beanie" Wells no longer looks like the running back that averaged three yards per carry. He looks like a whole new guy.

Green Bay Packers @ Carolina Panthers
1. This Cam Newton guy is for real.
2. James Starks is officially the number one running back for the Packers. He ran better and just flat out looked better than Ryan Grant.
3. Steve Smith is Cam Newton’s favorite target (no doubt), confirming one of the things I learned last week.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Denver Broncos
1. I whiffed on my Cedric Benson prediction really bad. I still believe in Benson though. But to even it out, I was right about Simpson. I liked him this week.
2. Andy Dalton is almost as legit as Cam Newton, and that’s a major compliment.
3. Eric Decker will/should move into the WR2 hole for the Broncos.

Houston Texans @ Miami Dolphins
1. Arian Foster needs a week to sit out and regain strength. If he doesn’t get rest it will hurt fantasy owners.
2. You know that 70/30 split that Reggie Bush was supposed to be favored in? Yeah, that never happened. Bush got only seven touches and Thomas got 19. But Thomas did a lot with those carries. I’m not sure how this will work in the future, but I am anxious to see.
3. Chad Henne is not the Chad Henne we saw in week one.

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers
1. The Cowboys offensive line is going to hurt Felix Jones all year long.
2. Tony Romo is going to take big hits all year, so get a good backup quarterback.
3. Alex Smith and Vernon Davis have nothing together this year. I can’t figure out if it is play calling or just bad quarterbacking by Alex Smith. I saw Davis open multiple times against the Cowboys.
4. Miles Austin is a top ten wide receiver in the league, in terms of skill.

San Diego Chargers @ New England Patriots
1.  I was wrong on Vincent Jackson, but I still don’t see him having a great year. I still will have to rank him with this in mind though.
2. A Vincent Jackson excellent game equals nada for Antonio Gates, but this shouldn’t become a trend for the Chargers.
3. Both Gronkowski and Hernandez are going to be very productive in the Patriots offense.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
1. Jeremy Maclin is going to go through his ups and downs all year, just like he has in the past.
2. Desean Jackson can’t repeat what he did against the Giants in 2010.
3. Michael Turner looks like a complete monster in these first two games.
4. Tony Gonzalez isn’t too old to find the end zone every so often.

St.Louis Rams @ New York Giants
1. Sam Bradford just gets better and better every game.
2. Mike Sims-Walker looks to be the top receiver for the Rams, but this could be a different story next week. Bradford loves spreading the ball around.
3. Brandon Jacobs is going to vulture fantasy points for Bradshaw and there is no doubt about that. He is stealing carries, touches, and touchdowns. The coaching staff trusts Jacobs more than Bradshaw and they make that quite apparent.

Thanks for checking out everything I learned in week two of the NFL season. Like I said before, it’s going to be a much different season than last year, and I have already learned so much in just two weeks of play. As always, you can ask me all your questions on Twitter or you can email me.

Let Them Preach! Week One Edition

Editor's Note:  This is the first of a weekly article that blogger Christian Hardy will be writing for us.  The article will highlight what he saw over the weekend in the world of football.  You can check Christian's other work out at his blog, TheFFAddict, or follow him on Twitter.

Hey ReclinerQB.com regulars, I just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm a complete fantasy football fanatic...I have been blogging about fantasy football for about three years now, and it just keeps getting better and better.  I am going to be writing on here about once a week in the Fantasy Corner.  I am also 14 years old and go to school near Wichita, Kansas where I am a sophomore.  I hope you enjoy my writing and hopefully the guys here at ReclinerQB.com will want me back.

________________________________________________________________________

There it goes. It just blew right by your head! No not the ball! Week one of the NFL season decided to swing in and give us an entertaining Sunday for the first time in over seven months...but was it an even more exciting Monday? Well, I decided that I would start a new segment called “Let Them Preach”.  It'll be essentially one thing I learned from each game every week. I’m not sure how long this will last, but hey, you never know until you try. It will be out every Tuesday after the Monday night games. It will usually be a short little article so let’s get to it.
New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers
1. James Starks is going to be the main guy for the Packers. Starks ran harder and just looked like the guy who the Packers can put their trust in.
2. Aaron Rodgers has a bromance with Greg Jennings. Rodgers loves to throw to the most talented guy on the field, and that is going to continue.
3.Jimmy Graham will become Drew Brees' favorite target with Colston out for a while.

Atlanta Falcons @ Chicago Bears
1. Bears can compete for the division championship in the NFC North again, and I think that is apparent to almost everyone who watched them this week.
2. With no clear WR1 for the Bears, Matt Forte is going to be a tremendous game changer for the Bears.
3. Julio Jones was the second most productive rookie on the weekend, and I thought that he looked better than A.J. Green.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns
1. Jerome Simpson is relevant, at least with Bruce Gradkowski under center.
2. Cedric Benson can still get the rock and run with it, and the Bengals sure love to run the ball.
3. We still don’t know who McCoy is going to throw the ball to (when was the last time the Browns had a WR1 anyways?). I did find out that McCoy loves to throw to his tight ends, though, and Moore could have value.

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
1. Ryan Fitzpatrick was, has been, and always will be an underrated NFL QB. No doubt about that. He has never gotten any man love from anyone, but the Bills and I know that he is a flower budding on a warm sunny day in spring.
2. Scott Chandler looks like he is going to be Ryan “Don’t Look Now” Fitzpatrick’s favorite target.
3. Jamaal Charles looks like he is going to share the ball . . . a lot.

Philadelphia Eagles @ St.Louis Rams
1. Eagles line isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to do. What do I mean by that? It means I didn’t puke, but Michael Vick could put up numbers.
2. Avant having more targets than Maclin is not going to happen often. And I will not be benching Maclin in week two.
3. Cadillac Williams still has it (“it” refers to his running skills). Oh, and if all of you out there didn’t know, Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is going to be starting next week, so GO GRAB HIM!

Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
1. Josh Freeman is going to throw the ball, and it is really going to hurt Blount’s value.
2. Arrelious Benn should be watched. He had seven targets and I think he might even start stealing targets from Mike Williams.
3. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson could have something special.

Tennesse Titans @ Jacksonville Titans
1. Mike Thomas is the #1 target for McCown, no doubt.
2. Kenny Britt is an incredible playmaker.
3. Hasselbeck might be able to actually produce with the Titans.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers
1. Ravens are contenders to make it to the Superbowl. You heard me. Superbowl.
2. Hines Ward isn’t done yet, and it is hurting Emmanuel Sanders/Antonio Brown.
3. Anquan Boldin is going to be Flacco’s favorite target, unlike last year, and I think he could finish a top 10 fantasy football WR.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans
1. Peyton Manning should have won more than four MVPs.
2. I think we all found out that the Colts might be worse than the ’08 Lions. Ok maybe a  little over-exaggeration there, but the Colts are a giant wreck without Peyton Manning.
3. The Texans have a really good offensive line, and Ben Tate can run almost as good as Arian Foster...pick your poison. Without Arian Foster, Tate had himself a very good game.
4. Although they were facing old man Collins, the Texans pass defense didn’t look half bad against a pretty strong receiving corps.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
1. Cam Newton can actually be a starting quarterback in this league. Shocker! All kidding aside, he had a great game and he has some great upside in the coming weeks.
2. Steve Smith will be a strong candidate for comeback player of the year if him and Newton continue to connect.
3. Newton’s running skills are going to really hurt the Carolina backfield.
4. Kolb is going to spread the ball around a lot, and it looks like his first option is Fitzgerald. But I think Doucet earned the backup role on Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings @ San Diego Chargers
1. Rivers, although he didn’t look phenomenal on Sunday, is going to be in contention for the passing yards crown again. He throws the ball as much as I tweet (a lot).
2. Mike Tolbert is the official goal line back of your San Diego Chargers.
3. Adrian Peterson is going to have to start leading the Vikings, as well as everyone rallying around McNabb if this football team wants to win games.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers
1. Just like “All Day”, Frank Gore is going to have to take control of his offense if they want to win games.
2. With the way Tavaris Jackson spread the ball around, I don’t see Sidney Rice being a huge factor when he returns, but I could always be wrong. I think the Seahawks are the next Cleveland Browns...no clear #1 wide receiver.
3. Crabtree’s foot is going to bother him all year; I expect Braylon Edwards and Vernon Davis to become a bigger part of the offense this year, just in general.

New York Giants @ Denver Broncos
1. Tim Hightower is going to be the main man in Shanahan’s offense.
2. Rex Grossman, yes, Rex Grossman, could lead this teams to some success (but be realistic, we’re talking about the Redskins here). As of now Rex Grossman is actually right: The Redskins will win the NFC East, judging by the way the standings are right now.
3. Hakeem Nicks is a complete monster and he never quits (see injury).

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets
1. Tony Romo is one of the best quarterbacks in the game . . . in the first three quarters.
2. Just like I predicted, Jason Witten will be the most targeted pass catcher on this team.
3. Santonio Holmes is clearly going to be the guy for the Jets.
4. Plaxico can’t do much against a good corner, as seen in the second half on Sunday Night.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
1. I was actually right about Chad Henne.
2. Chad Ochocinco isn’t going to be much of a factor this year. He was hardly even on the field.
3. Tom Brady is a beast.
4. Reggie Bush cannot be a #1 RB in the NFL, even if the Dolphins try to make him one, he is just not.

Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
1. Sebastian Janikowski has a leg.
2. Michael Bush and the rest of that backfield are going to get more carries this year than last. Or, at least they will get more playing time.
3. Orton and Lloyd both showed us that they aren’t one year wonders.
4. The Broncos’ offensive line was putrid. I would still buy low on Moreno. I completely still believe in the guy.

So there it is.  I hope you enjoyed my first edition of “Let Them Preach”.  You can read this original article (plus much more) on my blog.  If you would like to speak with me or have any questions then you can always catch me on Twitter or you can feel free to email me.  Thanks for reading, and I will see you next week.

Fantasy Football "Go and No" Guys.

Every week I'll be doing my "Fantasy Go Guys" and "Fantasy No Guys" column.  These are virtually my start/sits for each match-up.  I'll normally post these later in the week during the season, but figured since there's a Thursday game I'd post them sooner.  You'll also be seeing parts of this column in the game previews in a couple days.

NO vs. GB
Fantasy Go Guy:
Ryan Grant:  Don’t believe the hype that James Starks will be the starter in Green Bay.  Until we see something out of him, it’s safe to assume that Grant will get the lion’s share of the carries.  In past years, Grant was the workhorse back for his team, and I expect the Packers to run plenty on Thursday.
Fantasy No Guys:
New Orleans’ wide receivers:  Drew Brees simply spreads the ball around too much for me to be interested in any Saints WRs.  Marques Colston underwent knee surgery this offseason, and while I really like Lance Moore this year, he isn’t a reliable starter for the season opener.

PIT vs. BAL
Fantasy Go Guys:
Stud players:  I normally would choose a lesser known name to start, but Ray Rice, Rashard Mendenhall, and Mike Wallace are the only players I trust in this rivalry.  You don’t sit your top fantasy producers…EVER.
Fantasy No Guys:
The other guys:  I don’t feel comfortable starting Flacco and Roethlisberger against average defenses, let alone two of the best defenses in the league.  This also translates to me not liking nearly every receiver in this game.

ATL vs. CHI
Fantasy Go Guy:
Julio Jones:  The addition of Brandon Meriweather makes the Chicago secondary a little more potent, but they still have ordinary cornerbacks behind Charles Tillman.  Roddy White will draw a lot of attention, and I think Jones has the upside to break out in the season opener.  Note:  I also like slot receiver Harry Douglas, but unless you’re in deep leagues do not start him.
Fantasy No Guy:
Tony Gonzalez:  The Chicago Bears were 10th against fantasy tight ends last year, and Gonzo isn’t what he used to be.  I’d look for Matt Ryan to use his wide receivers more in this game.

CIN vs. CLE
Fantasy Go Guy:
Colt McCoy:  Start him if he’s your only option.  This means that if Peyton Manning is your starter, and you need a fill-in week 1, I’d feel comfortable playing McCoy.  He showed what he can do this preseason, and he has potentially good targets in Brian Robiskie and Greg Little.  I'd play McCoy in a 14-team league.
Fantasy No Guy:
A.J. Green:  Andy Dalton is the starting QB.  Enough said.

IND vs. HOU
Fantasy Go Guys:
Not much to say here.  You’re going to start Schaub, Andre Johnson, Dallas Clark, and Reggie Wayne.  Play the obvious choices.
Fantasy No Guy:
Pierre Garcon:  I do think that Kerry Collins will perform adequately in Peyton’s absence, but it’s too much to ask of Pierre Garcon to do well in that time.  He's really the 4th receiver behind Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, and Austin Collie.

TEN vs. JAC
Fantasy Go Guy:
Matt Hasselbeck:  Jacksonville’s secondary is among the worst in the league, and I don’t expect Chris Johnson to get run into the ground after barely practicing the last month -- they don’t want to deal with a hamstring injury.  This gives Hasselbeck a chance at having a big game vs. the Jaguars.  Note:  I also like Kenny Britt in week 1 if Hasselbeck does well.  The dude's a walking arrest warrant, but Jacksonville’s awful.
Fantasy No Guys:
Jacksonville’s offense…minus Maurice Jones-Drew.

BUF vs. KC
Fantasy Go Guy:
Stevie Johnson is the only guy I’d feel comfortable starting in this game, no other clear-cut starts here.
Fantasy No Guy:
Dwayne Bowe:  Buffalo was 3rd in pass defense last year, and Matt Cassel may miss the season opener.  Nothing to like here.

PHI vs. STL
Fantasy Go Guys:
Start the obvious Eagles.  Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, and DeSean Jackson.
Fantasy No Guy:
Jeremy Maclin:  Maclin should have a good fantasy season, but he is a likely candidate to start the season slow given his health.  Because of his illness he lost 15 pounds, something that worries me at the beginning of the year.

DET vs. TB
Fantasy Go Guy:
Matthew Stafford:  He’s been on fire this preseason and I think he is going to have success this weekend against Tampa Bay.  If he stays healthy, I believe he’s a top 10 fantasy quarterback…easily.
Fantasy No Guy:
Josh Freeman:  Even after a rough preseason I still like Freeman for this year, just not in week 1.  There’s questions surrounding the Lion’s secondary, but they’re expected to have a fearsome pass rush (highlighted by Ndamukong Suh and underrated Cliff Avril/Kyle Vanden Bosch).

CAR vs. ARI
Fantasy Go Guy:
DeAngelo Williams:  He’s coming off an injury-plagued season, and Jonathan Stewart is still in Carolina, but the Arizona Cardinals were 31st vs. the run last year.  I like Williams this year, and a week 1 match-up vs. the Cardinals is just what he needs.
Fantasy No Guy:
Kevin Kolb:  He’s being overrated by fantasy players everywhere.  He’s not even started double digit games in his career, and Larry Fitzgerald is his only consistent target.  Carolina had a surprisingly solid pass defense last season, and I don’t like Kolb in week 1.

MIN vs. SD
Fantasy Go Guys:
Adrian Peterson, Vincent Jackson, Philip Rivers.  That is all.
Fantasy No Guy:
Malcom Floyd:  Let me start by saying that he has almost no upside.  When Vincent Jackson was out for most of last year, Floyd was incredibly average.  You can’t expect a better year than last with Jackson back in the lineup.  Unless the matchup is extremely favorable, I wouldn’t start him all year.

SEA vs. SF
Fantasy Go Guy:
Braylon Edwards:  It’s true that Alex Smith throws like a Division II college quarterback, but Edwards is facing the 30th ranked fantasy receiver defense from 2010.  Not to mention Michael Crabtree probably won't play.
Fantasy No Guy:
Marshawn Lynch:  He potentially could have a big year, but the 49ers were 10th in the league allowing fantasy points to RBs last year, and they were 6th vs. the run overall.

NYG vs. WAS
Fantasy Go Guy:
Mario Manningham:  He’s the undisputed 2nd receiver in an offense where the QB will probably throw for 4,000+ yards.  Washington was also 31st in pass defense last season.
Fantasy No Guy:
Tim Hightower:  He’ll probably end up being serviceable in 2011, but the Giants have been solid against the rushing attack for multiple years now.  Stay away in week 1.

DAL vs. NYJ
Fantasy Go Guy:
Mark Sanchez:  I’ll be the first guy to admit that I hate Mark Sanchez, but he’s going up a Cowboys’ secondary that struggled last year, and could’ve benefited from acquiring Brandon Meriweather.
Fantasy No Guy:
Felix Jones:  He’s primed for a bounce back season, but against a fantastic Jets’ defense I don’t see this game working out well for him.

NE vs. MIA
Fantasy Go Guy:
Wes Welker:  His neck doesn’t look like a big issue at all, and the addition of Chad Ochocinco could draw the defense away from Welker.  Welker’s down number last year were partly due to the lack of a deep threat after Randy Moss left, something that should be partially quelled with Ochocinco in the mix.
Fantasy No Guy:
BenJarvus Green-Ellis:  I’ve been like a broken record this preseason – “don’t go after BJGE, he’s overrated…Stevan Ridley looks like a breakout candidate”.  I stick by that thinking, and against a good Miami defense I don’t see this crowded NE backfield doing well.  Let Tom Brady handle this one, boys.

OAK vs. DEN
Fantasy Go Guy:
Jacoby Ford:  I wrote a sleeper article about him, and I’m hoping my prediction comes to fruition in week one.  Denver’s pass defense was awful last year, and Jason Campbell was surprisingly solid.
Fantasy No Guy:
Brandon Lloyd:  Kyle Orton and Brandon Lloyd could put up numbers close to what they did last year, but I don't see it starting in week one...Oakland was 2nd against the pass last year.  Sure, Asomugha was a big loss for the Raiders, but not a big enough one to turn them into an awful defense.
